HatFitz and Cara can in no way be mistaken for a dainty duo. They have been known as festival favourites throughout Canada, Australia, Europe, and the UK where it has been said they pack more energy into one song than most have in an entire career. Their 2014 “Wiley Ways” album was voted Best Blues Album at the Australian Chain Awards and UK Spiral Earth. HatFitz and Cara were semi-finalists representing Australia in the 2015 International Blues Challenge (Memphis, Tennessee) as well as semi-finalists in the International Songwriters Competition. For their third album “Do Tell”, Cara won the Female Blues Vocalist of the Year 2015 Chain Award. Even with so many accolades to their name, they continue going from strength to strength making an impact wherever they perform.
Their forthcoming fourth album has had at the helm of production and engineering Govinda Doyle known for his No. 1 hit album Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone. It’s been said to have the unique vintage sound that these two claim to have created themselves yet it is packed with a modern punch that cannot be denied once seen live.
This dynamic two piece band are a unique combination that have skilfully combined their hill style Gospel blues with old timey flavourings. Stripped down to just voices, guitar and vintage drums, Hat Fitz and Cara embellish impeccable rootsy originals with powerful and soulful vocals reminiscent of a time once forgotten. It is not just a live show of their repertoire they share but a personal invitation into the parody of their lives on the road together that often has their audiences in tears of Euphoria.
“Rhythmic and groove-laden, and possessed of some fantastically intricate guitar work, ‘Doing It Again’ is Hat and Cara in vintage form – always with an eye on the past, but very much moving forward.” • Samuel J. Fell – Rhythms/Rolling Stone
