Jan Preston is a knock-out boogie pianist with a rich resonant voice who has captured audiences around the world with her originality, her energy, and her sparkling charm and gentle wit.
From a background in classical music with a long-term interest in song writing, Jan has created her own style, not only through her piano playing but also her singing and songwriting, which now sees her shine as a truly Antipodean original.
Winner of five music awards, she has sold out concerts throughout Australia, NZ, and Europe, writes music for film and TV, and performs side by side with the greatest contemporary boogie piano players in the world today. Her early career began in her native NZ with a No 1 hit in 1980, after which she moved to Sydney, where she played supports for Blues legends Robert Cray and Bo Diddley. She has also written music for many ABC TV programs including the theme to Australian Story.
