Perth Blues Club present an array of talented guitarists to set the Blue Owl stage ablaze with blistering riffs.
This is not a gig for the faint-hearted – four of Perth best guitarists, the likes of Dave Brewer, MattyTWall and others will join the Perth Blues Club band for a 20-minute set. If you like your blues to be masterful, powerful and frenetic – this gig is for you!
The show is underpinned by the ever-fabulous Perth Blues Club Band featuring Bob Patient (keys), Roy Daniel (bass) and Gary Howard (drums).
Bob Patient is rated as the best blues keyboardist in the country. He is an Australian blues legend who has played and recorded with many of the major blues artists in Australia. He has toured extensively throughout Australia, Europe and the USA with blues artist Dave Hole for Alligator Records. He is a founding member of the Perth Blues Club and the club’s musical director. He’s played with many high profile international artists including, Matt Taylor, Chain, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, Dutch Tilders, Barbara Blue to name but a few. He has also played with many local bands including Fatty Lumpkin, Riddum Shakers and the Zydecats.
Garry Howard spent most of his earlier days in his home town of Melbourne playing the pub and club scene. During that time he enjoyed back-to-back No. 1 hits with The Mixtures (In the Summertime/The Pushbike Song). He moved to Perth in the mid-80s and since then has played with some of the jazz and blues greats including Jimmy Witherspoon, Barney Kessel, Shelia Jordan, and James Morrison along with local acts Helen Matthews, Dave Hole, The Riddum Shakers and is a Perth Blues Club regular.
Roy Daniel would have to be considered a true veteran of Perth’s blues and rock scene as he has played live continuously since the late 1960’s with legendary bands such as Fatty Lumpkin, Matt Taylor and Chain and Dave Hole. Together with Ace Follington, Roy has established one of the most respected rhythm sections on the West Coast. They have not only backed many international R&B performers, but also continue to back and support some of the most innovative musicians that the West Coast has produced.
