Within the first year of formation, The Southern River Band has literally gone from playing to a handful of people and the bar staff down at The Thornlie Tavern to becoming one of Perth’s most popular and exciting powerhouse acts, playing sell out headline shows across Western Australia. Rock and roll with a dash of Boogie Woogie and a sprinkle of Country, or as someone best summed it up once as: “Just sounds like a goddamn Saturday night”.
The band’s musicianship, stage presence and exceptional live performance quickly earned them the title ‘The band I told you about…’. They were nominated for WAM’s “Most Popular Live Act” of 2016, securing national support slots and being confirmed by Blues at Bridgetown Festival and Nannup Music Festival punters and organizers as the highlight of both three-day events. Influenced by the purest rock and roll bands of the 70’s and 80’s, from timeless melodies written by Bob Seger and Glenn Frey to heavier riffs in Van Halen and Lyndyrd Skynyrd, The Southern River Band’s plethora of songs covers various genres, all delivered in explosive, true SRB style.
The Southern River Band’s debut album ‘Live At The Pleasuredome’ was in such high demand that they sold out one of Perth’s premiere music venues Jack Rabbit Slim’s completely pre-sale. Released on the 19th of November 2016, the album has since gone on to receive airplay on radio throughout Australia, the U.S. and Europe.
A firm nod and large amounts of praise have been received from members of Status Quo, The Angels, You Am I, The Stems and Blue Shaddy. The Southern River Band’s show really is one big party that everyone is invited to.
