The Streamliners are hailed as one of the best kept secrets and premier R&B bands from South Australia. Consisting of some of the cream of Roots & Blues players, they’ve won countless awards over the years and backed up many international artists such as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Holmes Brothers, Albert King, Charlie Musselwhite, The Fabulous T-Birds, Mud Morganfield, Big Jay McNeely, Carrie Bell, Joe Louis Walker and Dave Hole to name a few.
Their premiere show, back in 1990, was a two night double bill with the Dutch Tilders Band where they formed a great relationship with them and in turn were picked up by Blues Club Records to record their first EP/compilation in 1994 called “Deep South – SA Rhythm & Blues”. This won them a few awards as Best New Band at the Lithgow Blues Festival including their song ‘Hummingbird’ coming runner up as Best Blues Song which received national air play at the time and great reviews.
Six albums later, The Streamliners have continued to win many awards and praise both overseas and in Australia for their recordings ‘Waiting on You’, ‘Under the Moondogs’, ‘Signs’ and ‘House of Fire’.
Their live shows are incredibly fiery and musically unpredictable, verging on improvisational madness that go way beyond their studio albums. Soaring guitar solos, soul drenched vocals and heavy grooves that take on a life of their own, the band thrives on the electrifying musical energy created on stage and transcends off to the audience. They are a must see live band.
Comparisons have been made to such artists as Allman Brothers, Albert King, Grateful Dead and early Fleetwood Mac yet with their own unique sound and stamp on Blues and Roots music.
