Interview by Bob Gordon

What’s the best thing about playing festivals?

I love how every festival has its own community and culture, and every audience member is so committed to immersing in their favourite artists as well as discovering new ones! There’s so much passion and excitement in the air which really feeds into my performance; we’re all just thriving together in our own music-filled world for a few days. It’s so epic.

Do you have a Blues at Bridgetown experience that you’d like to share, either performing or as an audience member?

I do remember performing a very fun set in the hotel on the WAM Stage back in 2021! I was still pretty fresh on the music scene and the support for this particular performance was absolute magic. The whole room was buzzing and clapping along to my songs, and people were drawn in from outside. I was embracing the enthusiasm and poured it back into my set – it was a fantastic debut at Blues at Bridgetown festival!

Where do you feel you fit in musically along the blues and roots/folk scale?

My music definitely frolics in the roots-folk-rock arena. As I’ve progressed, I’ve enjoyed adding a bit more umph in my guitar riffs and melodies, but I definitely still consider myself a folk songwriter at heart. I absolutely love the blues sound and may incorporate more of that into my own style. I’ll always explore mixing genres, it keeps it fun!

What have been the highlights of your music career thus far?

Oh my, there’s been so many! Being based in Perth has definitely been a huge highlight for me personally and for my career. I’ve had incredible opportunities to play alongside some of my Australian based inspirations including opening for my favourite band, The Paper Kites, and singing on stage with Boy & Bear this year.

I’ve also loved my role as a vocal and songwriting mentor at Rock Scholars in Perth. It’s amazing to see the amount of young talent out there and to guide them as they hone their own skills and crafts. Another highlight has been co-writing with fellow muso and friend Whiskey Jack; a very cool collaboration which is taking off with a launch in Fremantle this October! Stay tuned on my socials and YouTube for more!

What have you been mainly focussing on in 2024 and how is it coming along?

This year has been all about promoting myself in the Perth music scene and also honing my skills – practise, practise, practise! I’ve enjoyed a balance of performing and writing new material to record in December this year – yay! – and have been playing shows all around Perth. And in between all the music, I’ve been firing up my dance muscles – you’ll certainly catch me groovin’ some fresh moves at the festival this year.

What are your plans and hopes for 2025?

I am looking forward to recording and releasing more music in 2025 and plan to embark on a debut North West Tour too. I also cannot wait to feature on more festival line-ups, continue writing sweet songs and possibly travel through Vietnam for a change in scenery. The overall plan is to continue doing what I love and share my music and joy with as many people as I can.

What can folks expect from your performances at Blues at Bridgetown?

You can expect heartfelt, giggle-worthy stories, a clap along or two and a whole lot of wholesomeness. My music will take you on an uplifting adventure and you will be smiling for the rest of the night searching for the stars and feeling the rhythm in your heart. Join me for that colourful-folk you didn’t know
